Cancel culture is a real phenomenon, and it doesn’t only affect the person being “canceled.” It very often also blows back on that person’s friends and family. In fact, it sometimes seems to me that people like to guilt by association more than they like to cancel in the first place. Once the initial problematic individual is taken down, the hunt is on for anyone who may be sympathetic to them.
That’s why, a few years ago, I told my family that they were allowed to denounce me if anyone complained to them about the views I express.
