Hey I have a question. How do you justify using she/her pronouns for a man? Especially with all the men who appropriate womanhood. If your friend were to commit a crime against a woman, would you still use she/her pronouns?

I used to do this all the time, just to be nice and "respectful" but in this current social climate, I don't feel that I owe it to anyone, to refer to them with pronouns that do not correlate with their sex. I always try to use the correct sex pronouns, or I just use refer to the person by their name.

I likewise don't owe it to anyone to not do that

You don't get to cherrypick which men are owed she/her pronouns and which Yanifs aren't. Is this "Lois" a lësbïåñ woman or a "straight" woman? Or, correctly speaking, a straight målë or a gay male? Hmmm?

I have only recently begun speaking out on these matters. As a feminist (men try to insult me with that term) and the daughter of a femicide victim, the erasure of women and girls in any context concerns me. It was women who were the caretakers and nurturers of the family when the males abandoned their roles. Now biological males seem to also want to own womanhood without all the hassles of actually being born female. There, I said it.

When I saw that bit cut out of the "Progress" Pride flag, I thought of the Communist emblems cut out of the Romanian flag during the Revolution.

Intrusive symbols can be cut out and the missing symbol is itself a symbol of resistance.

Other than using wrong sex pronouns for your friend Lois I found this an interesting piece.

I bet the NDP group allowed him to join them because men who impersonate women (he calls himself a transsexual to lend himself credibility but, at the end of the day he’s a man in woman face) are the favoured caste.

Please explain terms to non-Canadians. What is NDP? What is MLA? This was a great article.

Thank you so much, Eva and Lois, for being brave enough to represent diversity of thought at Pride! I've just discovered and am thoroughly enjoying your newsletter, and have been delighted to see that I'm not the only Trans-Critical/Skeptical queer person (using this as an umbrella term only) in Alberta. May I ask if you know if the LGB Alliance or a similar group has a provincial chapter? I want to get more active in liberating pride!
